Update - 240 volt dual action polisher (porter cable)

I've watched my neighbour scrub bird poo off of her car with a scouring pad so nothing surprises me :o :( .

It's not too bad scaping it off with your finger nails, but don't try cleaning your nails with your teeth as seagull poo tastes awfully fishy  :D

Check out the Power Polisher thread for full details. http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=6997 (See body work sticky) These machines are excellent and very safe. If you follow instructions on Autopia You will get an amazing finish.

The only issue is you can buy a machine like the UDM from Autopia for £75 ($150) and get a site transformer (240volt to 110volt) for about £50 so you can get yourself the same system but running on 110volts for less money.

I phoned around a few Meguiars stockests today to see if I could get one. I intend to do a group test :D but sadly none of the shops have them they are only available over the internet.

You get an additional 20% off the UDM by using the code POLISHER.

Ive just ordered one and am awaiting delivery.

We use as standard 415V 3 phase and since our single phase supplies are derived from this we get :-

(1/(3^0.5)) *415 = 239 Volts -

We will drift down to a 380V supply in line with most of europe and end up with a 219 Volts single phase supply (which many will already have)

Of course by the time the board tolerances are applied , particularly if you are a long way from the sub then you may well get a lot less.

This changed a few years ago we now use 400V on all new builds so that we are in line with the EU, This means we are now 230V single.

In Europe they have moved up from 220V to 230V

Not sure if we will move to 380V as this would mean many older power supplies would need to be adjusted or replaced.

Have you managed to clean your car in this freezing cold then? I haven't tried since finding frost on it in the morning and don't want to have to leave it to thaw before I can even open the doors.

Washed car a few days ago but it is not good to do any polishing if temperature is under 10Celcius.

The other day I washed the wifeys car and I was drying it off and suddently within about 1 minute the water just froze on it! A large sheet of ice on the roof
