Hi folks,
I have read a few varying reports about corrosion warranty claims and thought I would post the details of my claim.
My SLK is just six years old and has been faultless in the year that I have owned it.
I had taken the car into my local Mercedes garage on Wednesday for an MOT, no...
My young daughter kicked her football under our W203 C180K (2003, 25K miles). Ball got stuck just forward of the differential: so got down flat on my stomach to retrieve it.
Imagine my horror when I saw the following whilst under the car:
1. Exhaust-to-body mountings corroded. And I am...
Further to gary's comment I will share a little info.
It is a sad fact that all MB products suffer corrosion due to poor build quality and paint application.
Some areas of the bodies are poorly stamped out leaving sharp edges which are either unpainted or the paint can't sufficiently...
Doh,
I used to follow the posts relating to corrosion with a smug grin on my face 'cos my 1999 W202 estate was perfect. I had checked all the known nooks and crannys (like under the door rubbers) and not a spot.
But now, horror of horrors, i've got bubbling coming up on the underside of...
Just been cleaning ready for tomorrow and found a patch of 'bubbling' on the c pillar (or b pillar, seeing as it doesn't have a b pillar) in the corner.
About 1/2 inch patch
Will see what the dealers say when it goes in for a service in a few weeks...
Finally, after four weeks, I’ve got my car back from having its rust removed / treated.
When I picked it up from the dealer, at first impressions, it looked very good, but then I found some surprises.
The work that was carried out was as follows:
Replace both offside doors
Sandblast...
After 18 months of VERY light use (just under 9000 miles) the wheels on our 211 have started to corrode. This picture highlights the worse wheel but all four are being monitored and will hopefully be replaced prior to the expiration of the warranty.
If your wheels look like this and the car...
My c220 cdi (99 model) has rust in the tailgate, and top of both wings.
MBUK have agreed to repair, but want 35% of the cost, £356 because the last 2 services were not MB. (they were done by a vauxhall main dealership in the north west.)
I'm pleased that they've agreed to do the work, but a...
Just had the decision regarding the corrosion claim that I submitted last August and they convieniently "lost" the paperwork and digital images and denied all knowledge of my visits or phine calls.
They have offered to rectify corrosion to:
Around the boot lock
O.S.R wheel arch
N.S.F...
Hi all!
A friend of mine has owned a W210 E-Class (99') for a couple of years now. It was a one owner car, FSH (all Mercedes Benz)He has since had it serviced in the time he has owned it at Mercedes too.
Its starting to rust pretty badly in some spots. From what I have read on the forum...
I have looked back over the threads and seen some people have got MB to pay for bodywork corrosion. I have a very nasty bit of proper rust on the wheelarch of the drivers side front.
I have looked in the manual and there is a Mobilo booklet in there, however there is no mention of Bodywork...
Got the Quote from an approved merc bodyshop for about 2 grand, But the gentleman said it is rust from inside so mercedes should do it under warranty, but remember no service history Advise please
:bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

I went in the dealer for a quote for the corrosion around the boot lock and wheel arches, the sent me to their bodyshop in the body shop i was told it rust from inside that MB should do it under warranty. They took photo of the corrosion, and...
A new one to me, but dealer says MB Mobilolife corrosion warranty doesn't cover corrosion underneath the car.. floorpan, subframe etc.
A bit of a shock as I automatically assumed it did.
I have a 2002 E320CDi fitted with the optional 17" alloy wheels and sports suspension package.
The wheels have started to get a white scab forming in places which I assume to be corrosion. :(
I have only ever used car shampoo to clean them (nothing corrosive).
Has anybody else here...
Hi everyone,
I thought I would start a new thread regarding my recent corrosion warranty claim, here is what has happened to date:
1) About a month ago I was looking under the bonnet and noticed a small amount of rust forming between the upper and lower bonnet skins, at the back of the bonnet...
Hi all
Does anyone know what MB did wrong with their cars in the 96-99 period to cause the corrosion problems that some of us are experiencing now especially with silver.
Also what if any panels on a 210 are galvanised.

Well guys...you will never believe it but I mentioned some corrosion on the passenger door of my car to my local dealer ( it is located just above the protective film that they put on the bottom of the doors)
He thinks I may have a warranty claim!, yep thats right he did say this!
They have a...
Grrr.....
I've noticed it before, and I may have said something on here, but the paintwork of my '98, particularly at the front, is dire. On the nearside wing is a patch of what can be described as black "pimples" in the paintwork, and the front grille is a right old mess.
Is it *really*...
I had the miss fortune to pay a visit to my local MB dealer (and Daves favourite) Medway Mercedes.
Whilst drying my car I broke the catch that holds the side repeater to wing. Luckily it only cost £3.50p <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0"...
