Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

To be fair anything you do to one of those could not make it look any worse than when it came out of the factory. That and the Bentley SUV are both completely hideous and clearly aimed at those with much more money than taste.

You have to wonder how those wheels are going to cope with a pothole.?
It looks less like low profile tyres, more like a rubber band has been stretched around.

There's 'celebrity' property owner fairly local to me who has a similarly subtle taste in paint jobs on his cars.

Apparently it's Sheikh Abid Gulzar

Saw Ecto 1 today heading towards Margate. Hopefully going to clean up the undead skaghead hordes that populate there.

The Cullinan is difficult to spec subtlety, it always stands out from the crowd in any colour or spec, but there are few very subtle Bentayga around these parts.

They’re no spring chicken but they drive really well and if you want a great SUV then a “plain” Bentayga isn’t that much more than a similar specced Range Rover now.

Moreover I know a few people who are not replacing their Range Rovers with another, despite owning them for years, and Bentayga is one of the few alternatives.

Unfortunately Range Rover (and Land Rover) have become a fashion statement, and that puts off some longstanding customers, albeit attracting many more.

I don’t even mean older people being put off Range Rover either, but they’re core customers in the 30-50 age bracket. I’m sure they’ll be easily replaced as customers.

The Range Rover is not easy to replace for those customers. Bentayga, Urus and Cayenne have been the most popular amongst those I know. Good work VAG.

A pal of mine has a Urus and it’s an astonishing piece of kit.
Another pal’s dad has a Bentayga (his second) after 40 years of Range Rover ownership.

Regarding your fashion statement comment, you’re certainly on the right track there but the G63 is the way to go if you want to be up there in the fashion/gangsta wannabe/footballer world. They’re as common as a neck tattoo.

I’m noticing that the big Jeep Wrangler is now a popular car in London, especially with enormous wheels and tyres however I think the owners really want a G63.

Like the Jeep, the new Land Rover Defender is incredibly popular as it’s an affordable alternative to the G 63.

The G 63 is definitely on-trend but the barrier to entry (ie secondhand cost) is much higher than a Range Rover.

But how good they are does not enter into it....both the Bentayga and the Cullinan are just both so ugly if I was in that budget area for an SUV I could not entertain either of them. Although the build quality and reliability of the Rangey is rubbish the Range Rover is just so much better looking.

Slightly OT, because the last time I saw one of these on the road was in 1987 (and the fact that I remember it demonstrates the impression it made at the time), but here goes:

Matey of mine has been hell bent on buying one of these for a decade or so. He saw a dog rough example last year that he backed out of buying and apparently it got sold to Mike Brewer.
Matey bought an old Audi RS4 instead.
