Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

BMW 2002- memories about 17 years old, hitch hiking back to UK from Elba and standing just over the border between Switzerland and Germany, single bloke in a 2002 pulls up, we (complete with 2 big rucksacs, tent etc) jump in as he's heading for north. Payed for us for a hotel in Brussels for the night then deposited us (after loosing his passport as he carried it in his back pocket on the ferry, despite me warning him) a 10 minute bus ride from my friend's house in St Pauls' Cray - almost 55 years ago but can still remember it!

Not on the road but at the Bonhams auctions at Goodwood Revival. This is a truly beautiful and very unusual spec SLR McLaren Roadster which almost looks like it’s been back to MSO for a colour change.

It hasn’t though. The guide price is very very low at £120-160k, however it looks like the new owner will need to be prepared for some fairly expensive recommissioning work and likely import duties and VAT.

😍
Wowser trousers.

Zephyr/Zodiac?

Ignore cos I missed your initial photo.
Fairly sure that is (or at least was!) a Zephyr 4 (i.e. 4-cylinder). There was a Zephyr 6 (6 cyl, obvs), externally distinguished by a less plain grille, and the Zodiac which was the range-topper with a more ornate grille again, four headlights (iirc) and more internal luxury. (All from the deepest recesses of my memory rather than Wiki, so maybe wrong!)

Heading down to Plymouth today, I've seen a Porsche with mahoosive spoiler, Ferrari, Aston Martin, but topping the lot, Santa's sleigh going along the road towards Plymouth!😂

Looking at those Cobras reminded me of an old (now deceased) friend who had a replica years ago, told me a set of rear tyres lasted 3k miles!! I looked at one (also a replica) again many years ago in the showroom of Rover Hastings, thought that would be lovely - then management looked, and that was the end of that dream!!

I've built two cobras Chris, about 20 engines for them and I'm still on the UK cobra club committee. They're great fun to drive, most are around 350hp and 1000kg in weight with no driver aids!

If I was ever to get one, it would without doubt come with 1 driver aid - the noisy insistent one in the passenger seat (shades of Pam Ayres and her satnav!!):eek::eek:

I see a Ford Anglia local to me regularly in the summer. Next time I see it I will try to get a shot.

One of my neighbour's had a new 73 plate car delivered over the weekend...which is nice....well it would be of it wasn't one of these ugly Inios Grenadier LR Defender clones...in white.. At least it's not an EV....it's a 3.0l BMW derv under the binary....but it kicks out 336 mg carbon even if it is Euro 6 and ULEZ compatible. It's a big old best.
£73,000.....!...No thanks.
