Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

Saw this beauty in a local pub carpark last Sunday (no, not the VW!):

Austin Seven Sports - Ulster. Don't see many of those outside of trials and shows.

I used to know someone whose husband used to strip his engine on their kitchen table.

That marriage didn't last long.

Good info Mike.
Must say I hadn’t a clue as to origin until I got home. Not a vehicle I’d ever come across before.
Missed taking a pic of a superb looking 60’s Volvo estate just prior. Always lots of interesting stuff on the Island, I really must try harder to take pics of what’s here.

There’s a firm over at Bicester Heritage that specialises in all variants of the Austin 7. Until you stand next to one, it’s easy to forget how tiny they are.

They also have a two main-bearing crankshaft which isn’t a good recipe for reliability if they’re tuned…

Oooh, love an Amazon estate: another very rare old thing in the wild.

Great to see these things being used as they should.

Sunday 21st April is "Drive It Day" so there'll be lots of classics and "interesting cars" up and down the Esplanade then.

(Memo to self: Lunch at the Buddle Inn?????)

A friend over here in SW France (80 years young) built and races his MGTC - now supercharged - at a number of venues across the region. His car is very, very quick but his nemesis is his friend in an Ulster which, although he is faster on the straights, he just can't match on the twisty stuff.

He's currently reworking the suspension but admits it won't make enough difference and he's resigned to second places again this season. Those Ulsters do seem to be a bit handy.

Despite the heavy rain and gale force winds I was lucky enough to see some corking cars on the road today, a few which spring to mind:
  • Aston Martin Vanquish, Vantage (x12)
  • Bentley Continental GT C
  • Ferrari F12, 812 (x2), 488, 458 Speciale
  • McLaren 570, 720 S
  • Mercedes SL 60 AMG, AMG GT C Roadster
  • Porsche 997 Turbo, 997 GT3, 991 GT3 RS, 992 GT3, 992 GT3 Touring
Here are a few of them:

So much for supercars being 'fair weather' motors!
A really tasty selection there.
Shame some old duffer is holding them up in that last shot
:p
Edit,
Or are they all struggling to keep up????

Had I been driving the Mercedes-AMG ForFour Black Series Premium Plus Night Package 125 Navi facelift Powered by Brabus then they would have been a speck on the horizon 😁

Didn't I see yours in for a bit of a wash and brush up this weekend?

The Uhlenhaut ?
Sadly not. When Simon told me that he was on the brink of convincing Mercedes to part ways with it, I said that I’d put the proceeds of the GTO and SWB into the deal but couldn’t go much higher. Unfortunately he said that his other client would go much higher. Only he could talk them into selling.
