Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

My dad had a Radford Mini Cooper S in the late 60’s to early 70’s. He wishes he’d kept it but I came along! Twin fuel tanks in the boot, an almost works engine and two small sprogs does not a happy combination make!

It’s a shame you don’t get so many coachbuilt cars now, there were some amazing designs especially in the 60’s and 70’s.
I’m sure you were worth sacrificing the Radfird Mini for. Possibly. Maybe. Some days. 😀

Stopped at a local gtg yesterday. Lots of nice cars, Ferraris, Porsche’s and the American police bunch. This Contera MD1 and the Saab amongst the unusual ones. Wow, how small is the 70’s Mini 1275 GT now.. lovely way to spend an hour..

When I was a kid in the late 1960's a Mk3 Zody in that colour lived a few doors down the street. Always liked the shape.

Unfortunately, by now all by a handful have turned to (red) dust. Just 7 from 1965 on the road, and a further 6 SORN'ed according to How Many Left

Two Mark 3 models appeared in scrapyard scenes in The Sweeney - both gold 1965 cars.

This photo is from the first of the two feature film spin-offs and shows a couple of crims meeting an unfortunate demise (including Brian Glover who seems to have given up his previous career of bullying schoolboys during PE lessons).

On the left CPH229C can be seen supporting a white Mark 4 Zodiac. According to IMDb filming took place in April and May 1976 which means it was only about 11 years old:

An even shorter life was experienced by FYR535C seen here in the episode entitled Big Spender which was apparently filmed in June 1974 thus making the car only around 9 years old and so quite a bit younger than those around it:

Rust was always a problem with cars of that period and with their 3 litre engines the values of these Zodiacs would have plummeted after the 1973 OPEC Fuel Crisis meaning that, despite being Ford's top-of-the-range offering, many met a pretty early end which in turn has lead to such a small number of survivors.

Which one was Diane Keen in. ?

I see a few around here......but lots more of the RR Cullinan......but that might be more to do with the factory being about 4 miles from my house!

Yes quite likely. I see a few Loti a day here. The Lotus factory is just a spit away! I suspect there maybe is something regional about it.
Driving in the south midlands last month I saw a zillion Range Rovers, but I thought almost 5 hours on the M25 last weekend I might have spotted a Bentayga? But no. A fair few Conti GT's mind.
I know there are only about 500 of the diesel ones in the country, but any Bentayga would do!

lotus.....plural; lotuses.... 😄

You will be saying Octopi next......another commonly used word that does not exist!!

Nah! Why use other peoples words when you can make up your own! Much more fun.
Collective noun: A lot of Loti.
Just as we decided driving in Eastern Europe, it was a Trickle of Trabants....😁

Must be simply ideal for city living...
Exactly. We say the same thing. One of them is a 19 plate and I’ve seen it off the drive no more than 6 times since they got it.

It disappeared a few weeks ago and when I asked Ali G (the son) where it was he said it was being serviced!! Yeah right!
They’ve got a 24 plate Range Rover as well which goes with the other (approx) dozen in the road.

It’s all a bit daft if you ask me.

I used to use collective nouns as the tie breaker in my quizzes back in my repping days. I had a little book detailing them and some of them are really good.
