Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

That thing has not so much been touched with the ugly stick, but BATTERED with it!
It’s really not my cup of tea but I do think we should applaud it heartily for pushing the boundaries of design. So many cars - even super/hyper cars seem to follow a common format these days. ☹️

I did not think they were legal in the UK....?

From the Google...

No, Tesla Cybertrucks are not legal in the UK:

  • Design
The Cybertruck's sharp angles and blunt front end don't meet European crash regulations.

  • Weight
The Cybertruck is heavier than the light-duty truck it is in the US, so it would require a Category C1 driving license in the UK.

  • Registration
Campaigners say there is no lawful way to register a Cybertruck in the EU because it "seriously conflicts" with basic European road safety norms.
Britain's first Tesla Cybertruck with 500-mile range for sale ...'s first Tesla Cybertruck with 500-mile range for sale ...

Tesla removed the option to pre-order a Cybertruck in the UK and Europe over a year ago. However, some Tesla fans may import one, but it would be difficult to make it road legal.
Good job this one is not in the UK!

Hi
I was in Dubai today helping a friend collect his replacement for his Porsche Cayenne that got flooded and written off in the Dubai floods, earlier this year.
The replacement is immaculate and is a very dark green (Emerald Green) that looks almost black in certain lights!

Saw a motorbike and sidecar combo unit today, first time I've seen one in years. Too far ahead to see what type though.

OMG bike and sidecar - very early memories before Dad got his first car, IIRC BSA 500cc bike and sidecar for Mum and very young me! Memory loss means I can't remember the name of the sidecar. However, I do remember AA men in uniform on bike and sidecar who would salute you when they saw the AA badge on the front of Dad's car - and if they did not salute, be careful 'cos there's a copper trap just down the road!

A few weeks ago Mrs D and I spotted a motorbike and sidecar towing a trailer! I asked her to take a photo, I must check to see if it’s worth posting!

The other occupants I've seen a few times , either in sidecars , or bike trailers , have been large dogs ! They sometimes have a sort of tonneau cover with just the head sticking out !

When I'm at a MB showroom I almost always wait for the car to be serviced and Lakeside can put two techs on the car is what they did for me a couple of years ago. I don't sit in a car that I'm not interested in buying but do have a look from the outside at seats etc. The was a used G wagaon, AMG, looked the business. I sat in it, it was so sparse in there it looked seriously dated and the clang on the closing of the door was cheap sounding.

Up until that time, I had considered the possibility of buying a used, non-AMG car costing no more than 70k, but my experience put me off.

Having said that the car does tun head but I always recall seeing mock G wagons in Indian as there is a tata jeep there that looks a bit like a Chinese rip-off of the g wagon - see link below

The above is an example of look-alike cars. About 12/13 years ago when we went to Florida and stayed in Tampa for the first time
by the beach, when out shopping with the family I saw what I honestly thought was a fake Mercedes SUV, I'm not joking, It turned out
to be a genuine Mercedes GLK - the car looked so awful🤣 Having said that a more recent experience in the UK at MB showroom,
an electric version of a MB and I can't recall the model possibly a small cl type of shape looked like a melting jelly with the wheels looking like
old metal dustbin lids

The GLK was the C-Class spin-off small SUV before the GLC, but never came to the UK as it was only available in left hand drive.

Assuming you meant the current generation of G Wagen (launched in 2018) then Mercedes went to a lot of effort to engineer the distinctive G Wagen “clack” and “clunk” sound into a much much more modern handle and latch. It’s one of the trademark features owners tend to love.

The G-Wagen was designed as a utility vehicle for use in 3rd world countries , and like its WWII predecessor , for use by the military . Hence every panel is flat , as is every pane of glass - easy to work on in bush garages .

They were never intended to become the blinged up status symbols they eventually did .

A G-Wagen is much like a Land Rover , only more capable and reliable .

The clang of the G Wagens door is one of its selling points, its possibly the most robust, solid doors available.

I miss mine greatly, I just wish they drove like a car :D
