Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

Looks like someone in my area got a wee crimbo present for themselves!
Do love these ….

Would love it even more as a convertible (decatable or whatever it's called!) but way north of my affordability range! Hade a CX Familiale diesel for many years and loved it, most comfortable car I've ever travelled in as driver (did 1k miles in 1 day!) or passenger, was fprced to sell it when wife found it a bit too wide for our country lanes near our then home in Crowhurst East Sussex.

Décapotable.

I'm sure my Marina had a set of door mirrors like that.
So did my Allegro, but not my Morris 1000. In fact I can’t recall previously seeing a Morris 1000 with door mirrors, they were always on the front wing, like this, (Google picture) hence my comment.69E7CB46-5AB0-45E1-A915-D3DFAA47F9F3.jpeg

Yes, proper wing mirrors is how I remember them too...my Grandfather had a Traveller with them

Not actually seen.....but found on the net.....not pretty is it!

Mercedes Auto 2000

"Launched as part of a government project in the late 1970s, the Auto 2000 aimed to improve fuel efficiency in large vehicles. It featured three test engines, including a 3.8-liter V8 with cylinder deactivation, a 3.3-liter twin-turbo diesel, and a gas turbine engine. The concept achieved a drag coefficient of 0.28, impressive even by today's standards. Its innovations paved the way for fuel-saving technologies in future Mercedes models."

Which reminds me of Piech’s “three litre cars”

“ Piech put Volkswagen at the forefront of low fuel consumption vehicles using conventional engines. Its “three-litre” cars, the VW Lupo 3L and Audi A2 3L, still lead the industry, (three litre per 100 km, the Continental way of measuring fuel consumption, equal to 94 mpg).”

S650 Maybach at the top of my road this morning, bloody long thing it is too!
Did they ever make money out of the modern Maybachs?

Which scared the crap out of other hot hatch makers who thought VW was about to launch a Golf with a 3 litre engine.
