Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

I just watched this one go for £36k. "In need of recommissioning."

Bonhams : 1976 Aston Martin V8 'Series 3' Sports Saloon Chassis no. V8/11516/RCA Engine no. V8/540/1516

A colleague had one 25 years ago which I poo-pooed because of its handling. They're heavyweight beasts, hard on the arms and legs to drive around London. In 1998 it was worth no more than £20k

Owning one is a pleasure, not an investment.

Fair point. Mind I wonder how much the owner gave for this little boy ……IMG_9605.jpg

I wouldn’t fancy restoring something like a DB5 for fun. It’d scare the shit out of me.
Amen. Halfords wouldn't stock the parts and paint, and you'd struggle to find a Haynes manual for it on EBay

I couldn't believe that someone thought it made sense to take that to a third of a mill.k

At best it would only be worth £450k net of commissions and fees if done well.

Even if it was well rebuilt, by hand, it would still drive like the early 1960's pig that they was when new.

Fancy buying from Aston Martin Works and then storing it straight away. The price will no doubt have been held back by its less than clear past. Nice car though and worth taking a punt if you’re more than half expecting some big bills.

Tring Summer (?) Carnival today. A beautiful Bristol 403, Vauxhall Cresta in pink and white, a Ford E93A Popular plus a few more I can’t remember. Didn’t remember to take my phone either, so no pics, unfortunately

I've seen imported RHD pickups from that sort of period coming up for auction ... think they were quite widely used in "commonwealth" countries.
