Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

According to the DVLA its 3.5l V8 Van den Plas.....

EDIT....to avoid confusion....the car is a SD1.....in as much as the whole of that model range was the SD1......but it was never marketed as such....it was just Rover followed by the capacity....so Rover 2000 or Rover 3500. But right at the end of production they did a special Edition that was actually badges SD1.....body, kit , extras etc. So yes you are right .....and wrong....that technically is an SD1...but it also a Rover 3500 VDP....and its also not a SD1 limited Edition badged model. There you go....clear as mud!!

This is an early one....so no SD1 badge...just V8-S

The wheels look like vitesse wheels. I’m sure that VDP and V8-S wheels were different and the V8-S wheels were always gold.

The car is in very good condition, mind its history shows amazingly low mileage with undoubtedly a lot of its time spent off road. Possibly like so many I see around the Island it’s been living here for a chunk of it’s life. 😎

Nearly ordered an SD1 when they first came out, but decided to wait a year for the bugs to be sorted - by which time the price had climbed! Same happened with the Discovery, first came out as a 3 door and I wanted a 5 door. A year or so later they came out with the 5 door but had loaded it with a load of previously optional extras and upped the price, so I said "sod it, for that money I can have a Range Rover, so bought a second hand RR Vogue instead!

Yes, you're right about the gold wheels I think. It also had air-con as standard, still fairly unusual at the time even in cars as prestigious as this. From memory, most V8-Ss were a rather lurid metallic green colour too.

There were a bit garish iirc. A lecturer at my college had one on a W plate.

Triton green iirc.
They were into Greek gods at the time, Poseidon was the dark green and there was Midas gold. Can’t remember any of the others but Caribbean blue was very nice in the earlier versions.
V8S also had plastic chrome around the switch panels that rubbed off after six months.
The facelift cars were actually pretty decent cars except for the gutless 2.3.

I've had 13 SD1's and my first was a V8S but in black. 11 V8's and one of each 2.6 and 2.0. All were carburetted but when I put the rover V8 engine in my first cobra it started as a knackered 3.5 and ended as a 4.8 with over 300hp. They're a lovely simple engine to work on.

The only engine I have stripped and rebuilt with my own baby-soft work-shy hands, and I did when I was just 19 years old. I wouldn’t have a clue now.

Surely you wouldn't forget after only 11 years? 😇😇

Oof.
Awesomeness personified.
Where was this?
I won’t disclose the location due to the value of the cars, but it’s a very successful racing team who also restore/maintain modern classic race cars and run them for their owners.

Not on the road, but it’s not often you see an Audi Sport Quattro SWB so I thought I’d share it.

My memorable and startling first view of then for me unknown Audi came very early one morning when organising my shop front, a guy opened one up full chat along the Walmer Esplanade. Epic sound I’ve never forgotten. 🏆🏆🏆

Meet me at Kings Cross station. You’ll know it’s me because I’ll have a tube of Nespresso coffee capsules popping out of my breast pocket.
