Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

I saw this parked indoors. In an entrance hall. Does that count ? Slipping a Mercedes through a revolving door always impresses.

Hope so - because it certainly still takes one's breath away.

69 year since it won the Mille Miglia and it still holds the record time. From memory, at an average speed of 98 mph

(Ignore W196 and Gullwing 300SL - they're just appetisers - it's the SLR300 that's the focus.

Was this something to do with the memorial service for SM the other day?

Yes, they displayed outside Westminster Abbey for the event.

There's some video of the service around. I had the chance of tickets but couldn't go

Well, the sun was out in Beverley today & I saw a few cars worthy of inclusion here.
However I was unable to photograph most of them.

I did however see this rather tidy little Caterham 7..

Later the same day I also spotted this peculiar looking "thingy".:

The Exocet, MX5 based kit car. A few years back went to a pal’s 40th birthday bash and was escorted to his garage to see his newly registered Exocet, and then he threw me the keys for a blast. Took the wife up the road, as much wind protection as an Atom, so 50mph felt like 100+
When we got back, wife said we should get one. I didn’t but that comment led directly to an Elise S1 purchase which I’ve had for 8 years and counting

And DSJ Motor Sport magazine report was a master class in journalism.

Shame the ornamental "quick lifts" are on upside down....
I wondered about that. Wondered if maybe they can't actually take the weight of newer Cobras any more?

Nearly all "newer" cobra are replicas or recreations and only the DB427 aluminium ones have the structural rigidity to properly use a quick lift to raise the car. I believe the Crendon can too if it's specced at original build. All the plastic body ones only have cosmetic quick lifts.

I'm very surprised that having quick lifts is permitted on any road cars .: When you consider the damage they could inflict on a pedestrian in the event of a collision, they may conceivably be considered under Section 40 as "dangerous parts and accessories" ?

I didn’t know what the quick lifts are so I googled it.
Everyday is a school day.
It’s OK. I’d rather be a Nipper

Check out Steve Gray at Brooklands Motor Company on the Brooklands racetrack site.

It’s a Weybridge heritage thing.

(But don’t mention Aston Martin DB5 prices)

Hi,
Not strictly “‘on the road” - but I was in Dubai the other day taking my son to a hospital appointment.
On the way we stopped at some of the amazing Supercar centres along Sheikh Zayed Road.
We saw lots of rare cars - including some Aston Martin Valkries, Mercedes AMG-Ones, Ferrari Purosangues, Ferrari Monza SP1 & SP2s etc. etc.
However - one of the nicest cars that we spotted was this very rare (only 149 built) silver McLaren Elva.

Cheers
