Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

You won on the Suffolk SS100 but....

I can't let you get away with that comment....

What about a Petersen Bentley Blower? Yours for £250k - used - probably a tenth of the price of a real used one

OK, I’ll take your Bentley, and raise you with a SHERPLEY, the ‘sherp’ bit of the name being from a Sherpa van, which provided the underpinnings (and in some cases the engine (!) as well) the ‘ley’ obviously from Bentley.

(Incidentally, FGO523 is registered with DVLA as a Rolls Royce 25/30…

Love 'em or not, you have to admire the workmanship and dedication that goes in to them.

I don't know why people "seem" to have lost the enthusiasm for this (in Europe) that was much more routine a couple of decades ago.

Following on from last Sunday's visit to Thirlestane Castle, I found out that the boys meet up at the local garden centre on the second Sunday of each month.

So I went along...

Much modded XJ Coupe with AJ6 24v 4 litre engine.

Thames Ditton's finest: what a glorious gold 1954 AC 2 litre !

How many can there be left?

I’m fairly certain the Jag ‘special’ in post #4830 is a Ronart, available as a kit some years ago.

And a slightly later (1937) version of the Morris Convertible in the same post was my first car, in 1964…

Nothing to see here Mike, nothing to see, don't forget you are looking for a MB 😇
You're right sir. I must be true to the cause.

An AC saloon accelerating at 0-60 in a minute or so isn't quite my style any more....

I must admit, im tempted with a 1966 galaxy 500
''You made me buy a damned rocket ship!"

Mr. Leno Snr screamed at his son Jnr in 1966 after he let young Jay specify his new 1966 Galaxie....

Yep, not read your link as yet, but I believe it was only after a lot of legal wrangling that the ‘seven’ name was able to be used by Caterham Cars. There are still some cars around described as ‘pre-litigation’.
I think Caterham were able to use the Seven name with no issues as they bought the rights from Lotus but it was Westfield that was successfully sued by Caterham. My Dad has a pre litigation Westfield, called an SE. I think originally Westfield made 130 odd and called them the Seven. Then changed them slightly (ditched the ally bodywork) and called them SE. My Dads is one of the last of the 605 SE’s made until Caterham sued them and they had to change the body slightly. I’m helping my Dad do some work on it at the moment. Immense fun.

Thanks, Chris, that makes sense. Never really been into Sevens, even though my nephew worked for both Lotus and Caterham!

So I suppose then that Caterhams aren’t really replicas of the Lotus, they are the Lotus - it’s the Westfields, Robin Hoods and Dash etc that are replicas…

And of course my JZR is a (very) loose replica of the ‘30s Morgan. (I refer to it as a ‘tribute to’, rather than a replica)🙂

Anyway apologies for taking the thread down this replica rabbit hole.
