Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

This 1500 Spitfire.. found in a garage last year with only about 40,000 miles. The paint is crazed in places and it looks it's age. It's young driver has no plans to restore it having got it running.... just to drive it and enjoy it. Good for him. Sounded sweet as a nut.

Well done that man !

Don't forget to check the date stamp on the side of those tyres.

I drove mine to Cannes "back in the day," before the motorways. No mobile phones, dodgy maps, no air-conditioning and luggage for two squeezed in the back. Character building.

Annual Borders Vintage Automobiles Club show today at Thilestane Castle, Lauder. Around a thousand exhibits and a glorious day for it.

As I get older, the classic cars get newer so anything that is 30 - 50 years old, which back in the day was ordinary, now attracts attention just 'cos it has survived! Far too many to photograph - Vivas, Escorts, Allegros, of little interest - even if immaculately presented - so here are some which were of more interest... (to me)

A selection of some cars whose owners would take you out for a drive around the grounds.

Back in the day, these Vauxhalls competed with Bentleys and Lagondas.

Although no end of guffy number plates...

This belonged to an outfit specialising in "exotic" car financing. Says it all, really - anyone can get a fancy car on tick...

Guess what make this is? ( I know BTW)

It's the guys who rock up in one of these - half-a mil? - one mil?

This looks fab!

My philosophy teacher in 6th form used to take us out to his brother’s (somewhere in Glastonbury!) and we’d get driven around in, what I seem to remember, was a 1920s Bentley!

Nice Packard but astonishing that it’s right hand drive yet living “somewhere moist up there.” Must have had a pampered life.

Did you not go to bed last night? :D

Correct - Packard.

It hasn't rained here for nearly two weeks...
In the Alps.

The early bird catches the working EV charger…

Impressive that the Packard’s avoided the tin rot, unless it’s been completely rebuilt

On the way to Malvern yesterday I passed around a dozen original minis in several groups, including an Elf, which I haven't seen for many years. On the way back, around Stratford upon Avon, I also saw the tail end of the red arrows show. No pictures though as I was driving and making "progress"!
