Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

Parked in the in Aldeburgh high street this afternoon. However much does that cost to run at todays fuel prices let alone the other associated cost's of running a Hummer

My first new car in 1974 , in Purple Velvet , as a Ford employee it cost me £1075.00 . I don't think that "Kermit the Frog green" was a standard colour though.

When I was a youngster, a lady friend of our family had a purple escort of that era and ruined the paint finish on the bonnet with some sort of polish. The finish was as dull as could be.

Back then Ford made two versions of the Escort in Purple Velvet, the 1300 Sport and the 1300E , the "E" had the wood dash and the usual excess of chrome trim.

Well today I've seen a couple of GT40's, a jaguar, an Aston Martin, a McClaren, a Ferrari, an Ultima and about 20 Cobra's. Oh, and my SL too 😁

Today was a great day for interesting cars. I lost count of them all. As well as the beauties at Benz on the Green, the stand outs for me were a couple of E-type jaguars. Timeless.

I saw a lovely Jag XK120 fhc barelling along the A3 at Guildford today. And an absolutely gorgeous little Greeves scrambler. Black frame and polished ally everywhere. It just looked so right. The rider was giving it the beans as well! Brought a tear to my eye it did.

Ok stretching the thread title somewhat, but this was an epic spot, so please forgive!

I’ve not seen the Good Year blimp in decades, and it was such a memorable part of my childhood. I even had a 2’ inflatable one (the silver one that I remember)

And what better place to see it than at my favourite track Brands Hatch. And…..there was a Spitfire fly past. Doesn’t get much better than that in my book, what a day!

And just to link something Merc, the S212 got us there and back in serene comfort. I just love the way it does it’s thing with no fuss or drama. Utterly dependable, I love it.

One of my homies is after a Citroen SM. He saw one for sale in the midlands and went up there mid-week but it turned out to be a bit of a dog.
The seller had a nice collection including this Porsche, 3no seventies Maserati’s, a Mexico, 2no Lambretta’s and a series 1 Porsche 928.

Has he seen this one?
Citroen SM

I sent him that one the other week. He doesn’t really want to pay that but in reality he hasn’t got much choice.

He’s got a lovely Interceptor and the next car after the Citroen will be a Capri MK1 3000.
