Variable Speed Gantry Cameras - some info

Aren't we moving a little away from the point? There is no enforcing officer with discretion to apply; cameras are robots with no discretion.

Been driving through the West Mids variable for years at 90 mph when no speed restriction is shown, so either I am not going fast enough, they do not work unless lit, or I am just bloody lucky

I've heard 100+, camera flashes and yet no NIP. Is there a definitive answer on whether cameras are used on motorways to enforce NSL?

My old boss was photographed on the M25 between M4 and M40 doing 85mph. I'm surprised he slowed down that much; he must have been trying to eat a sandwich while flicking through Glass's and chatting on the phone he was holding! He could easily afford the fine (business expense) but was worried by the extra points he received.

Hi new to this (not a MB) owner but only forum I found talking about these gantry stealth cameras! My friend Dave had a new toy last Monday (8days ago) at 430am and was testing it was safe to travel over 70 (he said he was testing it around 105mph but may have just slowed down to 99...) he was travelling on m25 South bound near to junc 5 - 6 (I think, junction or so after the m25 splitting off to the left and m23 staying straight ahead) travelling from junction 31 m25 to junction 15 for m4. There were some gantrys with 40 / 50 / 60 but whilst going through one that was unrestricted (70) at 99-105 was double flashed. No other cars around as it was 430am! Guessinhg it to be the new grey ones at the side of the road near the gantry. Dave is slightly panicking (company car so will go round the houses to get to him) and sees conflicting messages as to whether nips being issued for people doing over 70 whilst it it restricted and over the restricted or whether they are issued during no restricted times too. Have also some articles in feb time suggesting a fault with these cameras being grey but not seen anything to say whether it was successfully challenged. Off to find a lawyer...

Hi Dave, you're fcuked.

My mate Dave did the same M1 Notts route 3 times last 6 weeks and all at speeds around 90-95mph and he hasn't received anything in the post. 14 days is the max for NIP's isn't it? :dk:
His electronic device was telling him the camera's were live but not at what speed they were set at, must be over 95mph :D

I think Dave will be ok.....................again :thumb:

As your mate Dave seems to be a bit of a d*ck, perhaps you could persuade him to hit the the same cameras at increasing increments of 5 mph until he gets an NIP, then he could let the rest of us know what speed to avoid.

That made me smile.

I know Chris's mate Dave - he'll find it funny too :D.

But will he do the decent thing? Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his driving licence for his friends.
