Annoying People at Tesco Petrol Stations...

Here's another petrol station special - people, who when the pumps are very busy, wait for the one they think will be free first. And in the process they block off half the entrance to the forecourt for other drivers.

When the petrol station is this busy is it not just better to queue behind someone rather than blocking off almost all the pumps?

I refuse to wait with my rear end sticking out into the road where someone might rear-end me . I will either -

drive on and find another petrol station

give the loiterer a quick 'toot' asking them politely to move up a bit

drive around them and take up position behind a pump ( I have been shouted at for this tactic , but when I politely point out the hazard they are causing they either back down or look stupid in front of the other customers)

Might have mentioned this before, it certainly bugged me enough at the time!

At Tesco in Warwick.

Pulled up behind an already stationary vehicle.
There was me politely waiting for woman to vacate pump, she was just sat in the car. Due to length of time she was in the driver seat I assumed someone else was paying for fuel - no - she was actually on her mobile, then (after finishing her call) she FILLED UP!

Mobile phones are banned/prohibited from being used in Petrol Stations for Health and Saftey reasons just like smoking is...

Well you should have politely said this to her and made her look stupid... or just sounded your horn

Or alternatively point it out to the Station bods so they could make an embarrassing public announcement:D

I'm from the south east and impatient! I'd have given her a prolonged bit of horn action.

That sounds dodgier than I intended...

At the risk of sounding 'holier than thou'! :o

Sounding the horn usually tends to wind people up, if I were behind this annoying woman then I think a 'polite' word would be in order. It could be that she has just received a very urgent telephone call ?? Unlikely, I know, but just possible.

Incidentally it is an offence to sound the horn whilst stationary :)

EXCEPT where you are being put in danger by the action of another road user

My local ASDA has no kiosk at all btw, it's pumps only! ;)

Same as Blackpool, it's great. Not generally busy as most people are stupid and don't know how to pay at pump.

I am prepared now for the come back:cool:

Only come back likely to be raking up a thread that's two years old!;)

true.. But he's another spanner in the works, in burnley (lancs) theres a petrol station near thursby college and annoyingly the pumps (the ones that are parallel from each other) are two close to each other so you can't even drive past the person who is taking forever...

As for waiting I think you can just put ur card in the pump at TESCOs and ASDAs so problem solved I think...

If people park next to the pumps and shop without buying petrol then they should be shot and their cars crushed. If they don't block the pumps up I can buy fuel without problem because I always pay@pump, they can queue out of the door and down the street for all I care ;)

Typical Petrol Head excuse the pun

As Pammy said the come back it on people who dredge up two year old threads and cause me to waste valuable minutes, when I should be getting a beer from the grarage, reading the first few posts before noticing the date. These people should be shot (alongside those blocking the pumps when not buying fuel). :D
