Is there evidence of this happening in the A and B-class? They've got similar design screens.

Exactly!

It'll be bolted on to the dash and will be virtually impossible to rip out

I absolutely HATE those iPad-like screens stuck on as an apparent afterthought like that. They make the new A and B-classes look ugly and now they'll do the same for the W205. There's no way I'd have one of those.

The good thing about them though is that I no longer feel even the tiniest bit disgruntled about having bought a W204 so near to the end of its run. I see my 204 from the inside far more than from the outside and I could never accept having a hideous looking extra staring at me from the dashboard. I was delighted when the pop-up COMAND screen on the earlier W204's was dropped in favour of the current version, but even that was a lot better than the "oh bugger, we forgot the COMAND" add-on!

Why would anyone steal a screen which will be of no use to anyone ? Its not like it will be valuable either when tesco sells a fully working tablet for £99 and CPW sell one for £49.

Junkies will steal/try to steal absolutely anything, and won't worry about the pane of glass in their way.

Looks fantastic. going to be a bigger sucess than the W204

I hope the version with the upright star on the bonnet makes it to the UK!

Looking good!!! :)

I could definately see me in one of these sometime down the line.

Agree about the bonnet star, but judging from the new E and also how many of the "sport" model C classes I see around, I doubt it will make it... :D

I think the new W205 looks really great, and at its best with the traditional grill and bonnet star as it looks like a mini S-Class.

It'll definitely be on my shopping list :thumb:

That's a hell of a sharp angle/odd shape on the front door glass! I'm guessing its to prevent having to have a separate smaller pane of glass at the front of it.

The finger-controlled touchpad may turn out a challenge for all us right-handed folk.

Not sure that I like the screen being proud of the dash. Looks like someone has stuck an ipad onto the dash. I like the idea of it being touch screen operated though (I'm left handed so no issues operating it)

I'm not sure the screen will be a touch one but it looks as though there will be a touchpad-type contrapment where the rotary wheel is currently located.

The other thing I love on my W204, is the ability to use the stereo keypad to dial numbers when in phone mode... It's dead handy, when you are out and about and the passenger can use it easy as well. My wife has an Audi and the dial and click for numbers is such a pain, she doesn't use it... Hope theres a number pad somewhere for this, but it doesn't look like it...

Otherwise looks good.

It almost looks like a baby S-class :) Seems they're on course for taking up the small/medium/large strategy first started by Audi (and to an extent BMW with the 3 and 5-series). I want to see some pictures of the estate version though as that's the one I'd be interested in.

Very pretty though, certainly much better looking than its German stablemates IMHO.

Nice pics thanks for posting them but as usual these " spy shots" ;););) always feature a big wheeled fully "blinged up" AMG body kitted version. Will reserve judgement till I see the "cooking" versions. :dk:
